Seaplane Charters: The Bahamas
You’ll recognize that famous candy-striped lighthouse as soon as we land in the harbor. Hopetown is one of the prettiest spots in The Bahamas. You can rent a powerboat to cruise around the Loyalist Cays, or just snorkel off the seaplane’s pontoons looking for sand dollars, sea stars, and conch shells on the Tilloo Cay flats.
Spend a day fishing the flats of Andros, the Joulter Cays, or the Berry Islands. Our seaplane will rendezvous with your flats boat and professional guide for a full or half day of great bonefishing. If you want to spend a few days or even a week at an excellent bonefishing resort, call us for some recommendations.
Take your family and friends on a day-tripping adventure by seaplane in the Exuma Cays with stops at Pig Beach and Staniel Cay. Fly to Big Major, the home of Pig Beach, for a visit with the local inhabitants, followed by a stop for lunch at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club. If you’re really brave, you can swim with the sharks off the dock at Staniel after lunch. Other island stops are available.
Our Cessna Caravan Amphibians can accommodate up to 7 or 8 passengers (depending upon weight restrictions). Other day trip options are available. Please call Charlene for information and rates at 242-362-1224.
It’s a short 20 minute flight from Nassau to Harbour Island known for its pink sand beaches. You can arrange a deep-sea fishing trip or sign up for some scuba diving with Valentine’s Marina. There are no cars on the island, but a golf cart can be rented to explore the town. There are plenty of shops and restaurants. Stop at the beachfront Blue Bar at the fabulous Pink Sands Hotel to have lunch and take a dip in the ocean afterwards. We can have you back in Nassau in time for dinner.
This is a popular stop on our day trip, but it is a great destination on its own. The Staniel Cay Yacht Club will serve you lunch and then afterwards you can go swim with the sharks. Yes, really! The staff will toss food to the local nurse sharks and you can snorkel around and watch them eat their lunch. The Club offers a full service Marina and rental cottages as well. You might want to take a boat ride over to Thunderball Grotto to snorkel inside. This is where James Bond (Sean Connery) was lifted by helicopter through the top of the grotto. You might want to watch the movie ahead of time.
Shoreline pilots can land in the water or at the airport here. You can snorkel off the floats if you have your gear.

“Seabird Air” is operated by Land & Sea Charters Co., Ltd, a Bahamian company holding an Air Operating Certificate issued by Bahamas Department of Civil Aviation. When it was started, Seabird Air contracted with Shoreline Aviation to provide its aircraft and to ensure that its aircraft maintenance and pilot training met the same exacting standards as Shoreline’s U.S. operations. Seabird Air continues to maintain the highest standards for operation, with customer safety and plane maintenance our greatest priority.
There are 700 islands throughout The Bahamas and most of them do not have direct flights. Going by seaplane is the quickest way to get to your ultimate destination, whether it’s a resort, a fishing lodge, a private island, or a yacht. We can take you, your luggage, and your provisions to the destination of your choice, safely and efficiently.
When you know where and when you want to go, call us. We’ll work out the details with you and provide an estimate of the cost.
Most passengers on our flights come through Nassau. This is where you will clear Customs and Immigration. There are other entry points on some of the other islands such as Great Exuma, North Eleuthera, Marsh Harbour, and Freeport. If your travel plans have you arriving or departing from some place other than Nassau, let us know and we can help you plan your trip.
Anyone entering The Bahamas from another country will need a valid passport. This includes residents of the U.S.
Time is the only difference. Your entry will move faster if you have a carry on. However, if you’re staying for a week, you’ll need to bring more. The baggage claim area generally moves pretty fast in Nassau as there aren’t that many flights coming in at the same time.
Seabird Air is based at the Jet Aviation facility of the Lynden Pindling Airport located on Coral Harbour Road in Nassau. If you are arriving by commercial airline, you can take a taxi from the arrivals terminal to our location (it’s about a mile). If you are coming in by private jet, we will meet you at either of the two FBOs, Jet Aviation or Odyssey Aviation.
Seabird Air is a daylight only operation. All water operations must be completed prior to official sunset. Any passengers arriving into Nassau after 4:00 pm may not be able to clear Customs and Immigration and retrieve their bags in time to complete their onward flight before sunset. Please check with us for more information.
At the current time there is no authorized seaplane landing area in Nassau Harbor. Therefore all flights must originate at the airport.
Departure Tax or Passenger Tax is collected from all persons departing for a port outside the Bahamas. This tax of BS$29.00 is collected from every person 6 years and older.
Seabird Air will gladly make transfers to private yachts. We will coordinate with the vessel’s captain to arrange an appropriate location to drop off and pick up passengers. We can also provide provisioning services during your stay.
There are very few days in the Bahamas that we can’t fly or find a suitable landing area. However there are certain weather conditions that may result in a trip being postponed or cancelled. Every effort will be made to find alternate solutions for passengers whose trip might be delayed.
We also offer sightseeing and passenger excursions to the Outer Islands. We can help you put together a trip to see the swimming pigs, have lunch on a secluded beach, or take advantage of some great snorkeling areas. If you have your heart set on buying that private island, the seaplane is the perfect way to go shopping.

Take a tour of the Exuma Islands stopping to visit the indigenous iguanas of Allan’s Cay. Be sure to bring some grapes for these prehistoric creatures; they expect to be fed! Then stop at a deserted island for a picnic lunch, before heading to Thunderball Grotto (remember the James Bond movie) for a snorkeling adventure. On your way back to Nassau you might stop at Warderick Wells Cay in the Exumas Land & Sea Park to see a whale skeleton assembled on the beach.
